RFP Annoucements

Over the ALCoE award period, we will implement two grant programs. The first Request for Proposals (RFP 1) will fund up to 12 projects at $500,00 for three years. The second Request for Proposals (RFP 2) will fund up to 10 small projects for exploratory research at $150,000 each.

All proposals must focus on science, technology, and monitoring in the following disciplines from the RESTORE Act regulations (subpart H, section §34.704) shown below:

  1. Coastal and deltaic sustainability, restoration and protection, including solutions and technology that allow citizens to live in a safe and sustainable manner in a coastal delta in the Gulf Coast Region;
  2. Coastal fisheries and wildlife ecosystem research and monitoring in the Gulf Coast Region;
  3. Offshore energy development, including research and technology to improve the sustainable and safe development of energy resources in the Gulf of Mexico;
  4. Sustainable and resilient growth, economic and commercial development in the Gulf of Mexico; and
  5. Comprehensive observation, monitoring, and mapping of the Gulf of Mexico.

RFP 2 seeks submissions from researchers at the MESC’s 22 member colleges, and universities who will serve as principal investigators of ALCoE-funded research that will use emerging technologies to improve the breadth of our efforts in support of integrated research, developing predictions, forecasting change and improving the affordability of data collection and monitoring in coastal Alabama.

This RFP calls for proposals that address disciplines 1, 2, 4 and 5 listed above.

Proposals submitted in response to this RFP may request funding for up to 18 months. The total funds available for distribution through this RFP are approximately $1.5 million.

Proposals are due on June 15th, 2023 at 5pm CST.
